Steve Dennis entered this earthly life on March 30, 1950 in St. Lawrence, South Dakota. He left this world and entered into the presence of his Savior for life eternal on Monday, August 3, 2020. Steve was God’s loyal servant. He honorably served in the United States Army during The Vietnam Conflict and during Desert Storm. Steve retired from the military in the early 1990’s. He was united in marriage to Brenda Pigg on June 12, 2008 in Anadarko, OK. The couple made their home in Sickles, OK since then. He faithfully ministered in music and sound technology on behalf of the Sickles Community Church and the entire community. He spent countless hours preparing music for each church service, discovering new songs and practicing to enrich each service with music that ministered to the heart and soul. Steve worked behind the scenes to record services, duplicate cd’s and provide families with recordings of loved one’s funerals, baptisms and weddings. His biblical wisdom and wise counsel encouraged all who knew him. Despite numerous health issues he continued to minister to the church and maintained a cheerful heart and smile through his struggles.
Steve’s faithfulness to the church was important but so was his family. Steve enjoyed any family gatherings such as Sunday lunches, cookouts, trips to the lake, or cabin getaways. He always thought to include any willing family members ESPECIALLY his grandkids. He spent many hours cheering them on at various sporting events and every now and again you might just catch him stepping in to help out with practices or any inside tips he thought might give them an edge. Steve was such a loveable easy going individual it made him a favorite amongst his grandkids. Most of the time you would find him passing out endless amounts of candy to insure “PaPa” secured his best buds spot with them.
Along with his great love of church, family and music, Steve also operated a very successful karaoke business for nearly 20 years, “Love That Karaoke.” Steve’s outgoing personality made this profession a perfect fit for him keeping weddings, birthdays and multiple varieties of gatherings filled with smiles, abundant laughs, and great entertainment. Steve was not afraid to dress up in costume or be in front of a room full of strangers (even though he never seemed to know one). No matter the occasion to keep others enjoying and shining through the crowd with his outgoing and loveable personality.
He leaves behind a loving family: his wife Brenda Dennis of the home in Sickles, OK, 6 children, Susan Likins and husband Scott of Texarkana, TX, Andrew Dennis, Tammy Maroon of Weatherford, OK, Ashley Gotcher and husband Kyle of Weatherford, OK, Billy Estepp of the home, Robert Pigg, Jr. of Norman, OK, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Tim Dennis of Atlanta, GA, and one sister, Deb Reed and husband Bob of New Zealand.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Don and Joan (Magness) Dennis.
