John Wesley McHenry was born on September 20, 1942 in Carnegie, OK to John F. and Jewel Gladys (Walker) McHenry. He passed away on May 13, 2020 in Binger, OK at the age of 77. John graduated from hinton High School and attended Oklahoma Christian College. He was drafted into the US Army and was discharged after his father became ill. He worked for his Dad as a trucker and owned and operated 2 service stations in Weatherford. John enjoyed fishing, music, quilting, genealogy, Bible study, and bead work. He was a member of Church of Christ in Mt. View, OK where he taught the men’s class.
Survivors Include: his children, Tanja Cole and husband Jim of Weatherford, OK, and Toby McHenry and wife Shawna of England, his grandchildren, Megan Lee, Tyler Cole and wife Katy, Hailey Se and husband Petra, Jaiden Cole. Addison Cole all of Weatherford, OK, Paige McHenry and Kindall McHenry of England, his sister, Jeannie Sierra and husband Vincent of Newcastle, OK, his nieces, Jennifer Rios and husband Martin, Maria Martinez, his nephew, Jimmy Shoptaw of Hinton, OK, 8 Great Grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, 11 great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jewell McHenry, his sister, Fleeta Shoptaw, his nephew, Frank Shoptaw, and his niece, Jill Rea.
