Jerrold Cannedy Obituary

Jerrold Ray Cannedy (Jerry), 82 of Binger OK passed away on July 21, 2020. Services have been entrusted to the care of Hinton-Turner Funeral Home and a service celebrating his life will be held on July 25, at 2:00pm at the Binger Baptist Church in Binger OK. Interment will follow at the Binger cemetery. Public visitation will be held on July 23-24, at the Binger-Turner Funeral Home located at 120 N. Broadway Binger, OK.

Jerrold was born on Aug. 20, 1937 in the Spring Creek area of Caddo Co to John and Pearl (Shook) Cannedy. He was raised in Spring Creek, OK and graduated from Verden High School where he loved playing baseball. Following high school, Jerrold attended college at the University of Oklahoma. In 1957, after leaving college, Jerrold began working for the Oklahoma Highway Department. In March of the same year he married Fian Rodgers and they raised 3 children in Oklahoma City. He retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as a Registered Professional Engineer/Branch Manager of the Mapping area (Planning Division) in 1987.

Jerrold was a tireless worker and self taught jack of all trades who loved hunting and collecting rocks, creating jewelry, repairing anything mechanical, creating and rebuilding furniture, collecting and restoring antiques, farming and raising cattle.  He was a long time member and former president of the Oklahoma Mineral and Gem Society as well as a member of the Binger Baptist Church and enjoyed discussing anything theological.

In August of 1988 Jerrold married Sandy Pershica and the two together built their log home on the family farm in Binger. Numerous wonderful family meals have been prepared there over the years with no one ever leaving hungry. Together they enjoyed working the farm, raising a garden, and western dancing.

Jerrold was a loving husband and dad, a proud granddad, a caring brother and a trusted friend who will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Gracie Johnston, brother Cleatus Cannedy a daughter Sandy Cunningham, son-in-law Ken Cunningham and stepson Tim Pershica.

He is survived by his wife: Sandy Cannedy, children: J.R. Cannedy and wife Julie, Robyn Bondeson and husband Rusty, four grandchildren: Justin Harlow and wife Jessica, Jacob Cannedy and wife Carissa, Sydney Riddle, and Caroline Cannedy; five great grandchildren: William, Thomas, Michael, and Joseph Harlow and little Jay Cannedy. Stepchildren: Scott Pershica, Rhonda Kjaer and husband Tim, Tonya Coughran and husband Marcus. Step grandchildren: Kelsey Pershica, Ashley Smith and husband Dustin, Josh Pershica, Clint Pershica and wife Tia, Cole Rooffener, Shelby Kjaer, Jessica Wheatley and husband Josh, and Kyle Rooffener and nine step great grandchildren: Kinley and Emerson Smith, Noah, Paisley, Everly, Berkli, Trysten, Charlie, and Tripp Pershica. He is also survived by two siblings: Johnnie Cannedy and wife Bettie, and Ella Ridle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family members and friends.
