Jack Long was born on May 24, 1928 in Lookeba, OK to Forest “Dad” and Edna “Doll” (Dunn) Long. He passed away on July 18, 2021 in Hydro, OK at the age of 93. Jack attended Lookeba High School. Jack married Lola Faye Jordan on June 16, 1950 in Anadarko, OK. He farmed for 3 or 4 years at Lookeba. He worked at Wesley Reckard Chevrolet Garage for 3 or 4 years. Jack and Lola Faye moved to Hinton in 1955. He worked for Davison Ford Motor Co. for 23 and a half years. Jack worked for Caddo County for 4 years, then worked at Caddo Electric retiring in 1989. Jack, also known as Papa Jack, enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Hinton, and a long-time member of the Hinton Round-Up Club. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting on his front porch with his little dog, Slick.
Survivors include: his wife, Lola Faye Long of the home Hinton, OK, his children, Glenda Beckham and Roger Sharry of Yukon, OK, Rick Long and wife Rhonda of Hinton, OK, Gayla Coats and husband Ricky of Hinton, OK, and Taunna Tapper and husband Kerry of Hinton, OK, his grandchildren, Chris Priddy of Bethany, OK, Ethan Priddy of Yukon, OK, Jason Long of Hinton, OK, Ashley Rhude and husband Peyton of Yukon, OK, Lindsey Long of OKC,OK, Dena Woods and husband Corbett of Mustang, OK, Bubba Coats and wife Rainye of Hinton, OK, Chelsea Peters and husband Derrick of Midwest City, OK, and Hunter Spivey of Hinton, OK, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Edna Long, his grandson, Tyler Priddy, his sisters, Maxine Winkler and Mary Lou Long, his brothers in law, Hal Winkler, and Albert (Curly) Jordon.
