Glenn Van Wey was born on September 3, 1933 in Mason City, IA to Vern E. and Mary Fay (Burnett) Van Wey. He passed away on April 1, 2021 in Hinton, OK at the age of 87. He grew up in Mason City, IA until he was 6 years old, then Hawley, IA, and later to Exland, WI. Glenn joined the US Army Air Force when he was about 16, lying about his age in order to serve. He served as a Tail Gunnar on B29 Bombers and then as a cook. He married Virginia Marie Salzman on November 5, 1955 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They lived in Racine, WI from 1964-2008.They moved to Hinton April 19, 2008. Glenn loved fishing and hunting, and runner up was gardening and yardwork. Since he passed on April Fool’s Day it is with great love, ‘The jokes on you! I’m outta here!!” He will be greatly missed by all of those who loved him.
Survivors include: his children, Jack Van Wey and wife Penny of Hinton, OK, John Van Wey and wife Sally of Grove City, MN, Anna Van Wey of Racine, WI, and Theresa Van Wey of Racine, WI, his grandchildren, Candace Perkins and husband James of Lawton, OK, Damein Van Wey and wife Shonda of Yukon, OK, Nick Van Wey and wife Nicole of Mustang, OK, Jamie Van Wey of Racine, WI, Julia Van Wey of Neshkoro, WI, Katie Van Wey, Lisa Hanson of Racine, WI, David Hanson and wife Amy of Kenosha, WI, Timmy Williams and wife Raeann of Racine, WI, and Kristen McGee and Shavontai of Racine, WI. 15 great grandchildren, Mercedez Van Wey, Reagan Durham, Braden Van Wey, Logan Perkins, Bruce Forbeck, III. and Ricky Sorenson, Jr., Devin Hanson, Janna Kate Hanson, Adrian, Jaden Hanson, Allie Hanson, Tanner Hanson, Amari Anderson, Kayden Williams, Layden Williams, and Kenzie McGee, 3 great great grandchildren, Carl Hanson, Jr., Jaélanin Rusell Gonzalez, Calliope Ottesen, and Devin Hanson, Jr., as well as many other relatives and friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Fay Van Wey, his wife, Virginia Van Wey, son, David Van Wey, daughter in law, Ann Van Wey, 2 great grandsons, Michael Williams and Malikye Williams, 3 brothers, Leonard Van Wey and his wife Lorraine, Junior Van Wey and his wife Shirley, and Dareld “Dude” Van Wey and his wife Iris, his 2 sisters, Doris Kilichowski and Mary Jane Djurich.
