Donna Mae (Wray) Payne

Donna Mae (Wray) Payne was born April 1, 1931 West of Hitchcock, OK to Ebbie and Virgie (Graham) Wray.  She passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 91.  She was raised and graduated from Hitchcock High School.  She was united in marriage to Alvin Payne December 9, 1949 in Watonga, OK.  They lived all of their lives in the Watonga area.  She started delivering the Daily Oklahoman in 1952 and continued delivering the paper for 51 years.  She farmed and raised cattle until she was 75.  Donna enjoyed gardening, puzzles, cooking for family dinners, making zucchini bread, watching her soap operas and western shows, and an occasional cartoon.  She loved being on the farm and always would have a cold pop or candy bar for her grandkids.  In her later years she always enjoyed going to Sonic for her chocolate shake and enjoyed her cat Allie.  She was a member of the Elks Club in Watonga.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ebbie and Virgie Wray, her husband Alvin Payne, her granddaughter, Julie Baumgardner, and two sisters, Olive Cutter and Barbara Keen.

Donna is survived by her two sons, Allan Payne and his wife Linda of Lake City, CO, and Gary Payne and his wife Donna of Watonga; grandchildren, Tony Payne and wife Jamie of Jenks, Jerry Payne and wife Kirby of Stillwater, Jason Payne and wife Jamie of Watonga, Tiffany Hyer and husband Cale of Stillwater, Gena Brawley and husband Lee of Fairview, Jennifer Flinn of Watonga, and Charly Clark and husband Billy of Piedmont; 19 great grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, Erin, Callie, Kashon, Andie Jo, Allyson, Abby, Jaden, Kelcey, Kalli, Kloe, Caisha, Taryn, Nevaeh, Trevor, Brooks, Kaydence, and Adley; two great great grandchildren, Jace and Huxtyn.

Viewing will be Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Turner Funeral Home in Geary from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
