Chester Phillips Obituary

Chester A. Phillips was born on October 14, 1946 in Geary, OK to Lester Phillips and Frances (Woodruff) Barnes. He passed away on May 12, 2022 in Del City, OK at the age of 75. Chester joined the US Army on October 15, 1963 and achieved the rank of Sargent Major by the time he retired October 31, 1986. While serving in the Vietnam War, Chester was wounded in battle, receiving the Purple Heart.  His efforts in the war earned him the Vietnam Service Medal, with 4 campaign stars, and the Bronze Star. Throughout his life, he was an ROTC instructor, worked as City Marshall of Glencoe, OK, and ran a security company which he retired from in the late 1990’s. Chester enjoyed coin collecting.

 

 

Survivors Include: his children, Wade Phillips and wife Kelly of Brighton, MI, Janell Easley and husband Phil of Midwest City, OK, C.J. Phillips and wife Jenny of Whitmore Lake, MI, his grandchildren, Morgan Cherry and husband Dylan of Linden, MI, Justin Phillips of Taylorsville, UT, Allison Phillips of Brighton, MI, Brittany Easley of Del City, OK, Andrew Easley of Edmond, OK, Tyler Phillips and Jessica Phillips both of Whitmore Lake, MI, his great grandchildren Cooper, Maya, Sawyer, and Sophia, his step-sister, Jeanne Titsworth and husband Tobie of Claremore, OK, as well as many other relatives and friends.

 

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Phillips and Frances Barnes, and his sister, Susie.  

 

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope for the Warriors (hopeforthewarriors.org).
