Bill Wigington was born on February 18, 1934 in Watonga, OK to Thomas Virgil and Gillie (Coburn) Wigington. He passed away on February 13, 2020 in OKC, OK at the age of 85. Bill was raised and graduated from Greenfield High School where he was class president. He married Barbara Marx on August 22, 1953 in Watonga, OK. He attended business school and attended OCU then was drafted into the US Army in 1956 and served until December of 1958. He served in Germany as a radar operator while stationed there. Bill worked for Borden’s as a distributor in NE Oklahoma and in Kansas. He owned and operated the Ford dealership in Wilburton, OK. He was called to build and start Okarche First Baptist Church and saw it through until it became what is now the First Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School, loved football and all sports. Bill and Barbara adopted 5 children and later owned Wiggee's Burger Ranch for 15 years. Bill was a Greenfield Alumni President, a member of the Greenfield First Baptist Church, he served as regent for Claremore Junior College. He was also the campaign manager for David Boren for Governor and later when he ran for Senate. Bill was an ordained minister.
Survivors Include: his wife, Barbara Wigington of Edmond, OK, his children, James “Jack” Wigington and wife Pam of CO, Julia “Judy” Wakely and husband Mike of Edmond, OK, and Bill Duane Wigington of Wilburton, OK, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, his siblings, Tom Wigington and wife Fran of TN, Choc Wigington and wife Shirley of Greenfield, OK, Glen “Fizz” and wife Charlene of TX, Naomi “Tootsie” Kennedy of Mustang, OK, and Gwendolyn “Punkin” McLung of Watonga, OK, nieces nephews, cousins, as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gillie Wigington, his daughters, Pricilla “Kathy” Franklin and Barbara Diane Underwood, his grandson, Ryan Wigington, his brothers, Richard and Bob Wigington, his sisters, Delores Beals and Joyce Wigington.
