Nina White Obituary

Nina Jo White of Hot Springs, passed away November 23, 2019.

 

She was born April 5, 1925, to Leatha and Elmer Ford in Geary, Oklahoma. Nina was raised by her mother and stepfather, Ernie Crane. She grew up in Geary with her brother, Dwight. She married Clay (Claburn) White on February 23, 1947. They enjoyed living in Weatherford and Stillwater, Oklahoma, while Clay attended Southwestern University and Oklahoma State University. After graduation, Clay was recruited by the FBI in 1951 and was transferred to Hot Springs in 1954, making  Hot Springs their home for the remainder of their lives. Nina and Clay were married for 71 years, until his death on March 16, 2018. They were both very active within the Hot Springs and Garland County community and with First United Methodist Church.

 

Nina was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Dwight Ford, sister-­‐in-­‐law Millie Ford, brother-in‐law Carl White, and sister-in‐law Peggy Cole. She is survived by her children, Glenda, Gary, and Greg, in-laws, Joe Heronema and Jorge Villasenor, grandsons Austin, Mason, Clayton, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Scoville and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A celebration of Nina’s life will be at First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 27th, at 1:30pm and a reception will immediately follow at the church’s Christian Life Center. The service of interment will be at the Geary Cemetery, at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 29th at 2:00pm. Memorials may be made for a special plaque in memory of Nina and Clay White at Garvan Woodland Gardens, 550 Arkridge Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913 or to First United Methodist Church, 1100 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71901.
