El Dea Tate, 81, of Oklahoma City passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early afternoon on Tuesday May 28th at Heritage Point Memory Care after a life filled with love and laughter.

After graduating from Binger High School, she married Donald Buck Tate on June 4th, 1955 in Wheeler, Texas. In 2002, she married Joe Ed Tate 21 years after her beloved Donald’s passing. She spent her life as a caregiver to her family, children, and grandchildren as well as countless friends and animals, and as a lifelong servant of Jesus. She was a member of North Macarthur Church of Christ. Along with her husband, she owned Tate’s Food Market on NE 23rd St in Oklahoma City. She was a painter and a gardener who made life beautiful. To know El Dea was to know grace, care, love, bravery, and strength. She made everyone feel welcome, accepted, and safe, and her legacy lives on through her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Tate. She is survived by her 2nd husband, Joe Tate, her children D’Liza Wilkerson, Danny Tate, and Franna Elmore, and her siblings Kathryn Land, Joe Reese, and Elton Reese. She leaves behind 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
