Doris Morgan Obituary

Doris Nadine (Kendell) Morgan, died on December 9, 2019 at the age of 91

Doris was born to Perry and Mary Kendell on January 14, 1928.  She was proceeded in death by her husband Franklin L.D. Morgan, her parents, three sisters; Flossie Saffell, Hazel Bledsoe, and Alma Seurer and three brothers; Tennis, Earl, and Omer Kendell. Doris was born in Burbank, OK and moved to Hinton, OK at a very young age.  She lived in and around Hinton, OK all her young life.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hinton.  She graduated from Hinton High School in 1946.  She married Franklin L.D. Morgan on December 10, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Hinton, OK. She went to work at the bakery in Hinton where she worked the front sales counter helping customers and in the backroom decorating cakes, icing rolls and wrapping bread. Doris and L.D. moved to Oklahoma City in 1953 and started their family in 1954.  Four sons were born over the next seven years.  She was a stay at home mom for many years.  Her family was her life.  She loved going to the lake, boating and watching her kids and grandkids ski.  She spent a lot of years having great times at Lake Texoma. Her specialty was having fish fry’s for friends and family.  She loved decorating cakes, writing poems and quilting.  She went to work at Streets and later went to work at Sears in 1974 where she retired after 18 years in 1992 at the age of 63.  Doris went back to work at age 73, for her granddaughter at Subway in Yukon, OK in 2001 and then transferred to her store in Piedmont, OK and retired again at the age of 80.  She loved her work and had a very wonderful relationship with the customers.  She was known to everyone as “Grandma”.  Customers still today ask about Grandma. Doris and her late husband L.D. Morgan moved to Piedmont, OK in 1976 and lived there until her last two months of passing.  She wanted to tell all her family you were all very dear to my heart.
