In Memoriam

 

Alfred was a loving friend, father and husband.  Alfred Leon Godfrey was born to H.E. and Lizzie on May 11th 1933 in Binger, Oklahoma. He passed away on June 16, 2019 in Anadarko, OK at the age of 86. He graduated from Binger High.  He attended the Church of God most of his life.  Alfred joined the U.S. Army in 1953.  He trained at Ft. Chaffey in San Antonio.  He then served as an MP in Baltimore, Maryland. Alfred served overseas in the Korean Conflict at Camp Sendai, Japan.  He was discharged in 1956.  He married Anita Willis on August 6th 1956.  Together they spent nearly 63 years, and from this union, two children were born.  After returning from the service, Alfred engaged in the farming industry with his father.  He was an honorary member of the Binger FFA.  Hunting and fishing were his lifelong passions that he shared with his father, children and grandchildren.

 

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, H.E. and Lizzie (Welch) Godfrey, siblings, Herold Godfrey, Earl Godfrey, Viola Crowder, Clarence Godfrey, Vernon Godfrey and daughter, Sheila Whitfield.  

 

Alfred’s memory is carried on by his wife Anita of the home, son, Terry and wife Connie of Anadarko, grandsons, Joe and wife Danyelle of Ft. Cobb, Nathan and wife Victoria of Tyrone, OK, great grandchildren, Zoey Anglin, Layne Anglin, Krayson Anglin, Ryker Godfrey, and Lyncoln Godfrey.  His memory is also carried on by the husband of his daughter Sheila, Bryce Whitfield and by his “Hey Little Sister” Linda and husband Kenneth McPherson and Tammy Patterson. 

 

His kind heart touched the lives of many friends who will also carry on his legacy.

Officiating: Rev. Kevin Bartley and Rev. Ron Nelson
