Wilma Rae (Mills) Smith Obituary

Wilma Rae Smith was born on November 4, 1942, at home in Hinton, Oklahoma, to Gerald and Alma (Meece) Mills. She passed away on July 23, 2025, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. A lifelong resident of Hinton, Wilma graduated from Hinton High School in 1960. On July 14, 1961, she married the love of her life, Donald Ray Smith, in Hinton. Together they built a family filled with love and laughter, raising four children: Kim, Kelly, Shannon, and Scott. After Donald’s early passing, Wilma took on the role of both mother and father, raising her children with strength, devotion, and unconditional love. Wilma worked for Southwestern Bell in Oklahoma City, 3M in Weatherford, and later as an administrative assistant at the insurance office in Hinton for Terrell Coffey and Lee Norton. She was known for her strong voice and even stronger heart—never one to be bashful, she spoke her mind and shared her thoughts with honesty and care. A faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Hinton, Wilma served her church family with a kind and giving spirit. She was deeply devoted to her community and loved baking for friends and neighbors. Wilma enjoyed long walks with her close group of friends along Old Route 66 and found great joy in reading, encouraging her children to always keep a book in hand. She also had a special fondness for Dr. Pepper and oatmeal pies. Wilma’s world revolved around her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life, and she treasured every moment with them. Her strength, warmth, and selfless love will be missed beyond measure by those who knew her.

She is survived by her children: Kim Cook and husband Bryan of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Shannon Smith of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, Kelly Pease and husband Tracy of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Scott Smith and wife Cheryl of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Blake Cook, Blair MakesCry and husband Derek, Connor Smith, Turner Pease, Smith Pease and wife Miranda, Paden Smith and wife Kaci, Kaela Bogdan and husband Blake, and Dalton Sisson and wife Andrea, her  great-grandchildren: Cayman, Graham, Hudson, Kennady, Beau Madden, Hadley, Rally, Crew, Taber, Tripp, Taysum, Trel, Daigan, Denzlee, and Wyatt, her siblings, Jim Mills of Perkins, OK, Bob Mills of Mustang, OK, Connie Mills of Anadarko, OK, and Kathy Stewart of Bentonville, AR, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith; her parents, Gerald and Alma Mills; her siblings Fred, Gene, C.V., Dean, Virgil, Ronnie, Wanda, and Dorothy; and her grandson Cale Smith.

Wilma lived a life of faith, strength, and love—a legacy that will live on through the countless lives she touched.
