Wendell Eugene Rednose was born on November 15, 1962, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Walter and Teresa (Rednose) Carter. He passed away at his home in Watonga, Oklahoma, on April 4, 2025, at the age of 62. Wendell graduated from Watonga High School and went on to attend Haskell Indian Nations University. He proudly served in the United States Army as an Army Ranger. After his military service, Wendell worked in records management for Indian Health Services for many years. He had a deep love for his culture and enjoyed attending powwows and dances. Known for his generosity and kindness, Wendell was always ready to help anyone in need. He also had a special bond with his beloved dogs.
Wendell is survived by his siblings: Alan Rednose, Crystal Carter of Tulsa, Cherie Carter Berryman of Yukon, Andreana Carter of Watonga, and Lorna Carter of Yukon; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Teresa Carter.
A viewing will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at Turner Funeral Home in Geary, Oklahoma, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Indian Baptist Church in Watonga from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Kingfisher Cemetery with Reverend Gordon Yellowman officiating.
