Vivian Cora Pritchett, age 98, of Waxahachie, Texas passed away peacefully at 10 PM, February 14, 2026. She was born September 4, 1928 at Mountain Top Arkansas to William “Will” Nathaniel Goldsmith and Cora (Magby) Goldsmith. Vivian’s father made his living as a coal miner. Her mother, a housewife, died from tuberculosis when Vivian was 5 years old. She was raised by her father, who never remarried. They moved over the years between Arkansas and Oklahoma, following work not only in farming, mining, but other jobs to support Vivian and her older brother Clifton. While Bill was employed in Oklahoma, at one point he worked for Oliver Pritchett, Sr., the father of Vivian’s future husband, Oliver Pritchett, Jr. The details of this match are lost to time, but we know Oliver and Vivian were married on November 8, 1946. The first of three sons was born in August the next year, followed by two more sons over the next four years. As a devoted and gentle mother, she gave her life to family and to God for her entire life. As a farmer’s wife, she not only managed the household, she pulled cotton, dressed chickens, milked the goat, ground grain, and still had our local minister over for Sunday dinner, a feast. She lived a full and useful life. She did not fear death when it approached, but welcomed it, as her belief was that she was destined for a better place. Oliver and one son, Ronald (Ronnie) Pritchett had already passed.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry and Danny Pritchett. Vivian will be sorely missed by those who knew her well.

Memorial services will be held at the Geary Turner Funeral Home on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Tony Moore will officiate.
