Viola Berniece (White) Tidwell

Viola Berniece Tidwell was born on October 17, 1936 in Delano, CA to Richard and Mary Lee (Smith) White. She passed away on July 13, 2019 in Frisco, TX at the age of 82. Berniece grew up in Delano, CA and graduated from Fresno State University in Fresno, CA. Berniece taught elementary school, 5th  and 6th grades being her favorite, at Frank West Elementary School in Bakersfield, CA. Berniece taught in the classroom until she earned her counseling credentials, serving students in that capacity as well, and retired in 1991. She married Ivory “Jack” Tidwell on July 16, 1966 in Las Vegas, NV. They were married for 50 years until his passing on September 6, 2016. She and Jack moved to Eakly after their retirement. Berniece was very well thought of in the Eakly community where she was an active member of the Assembly of God Church and involved in many civic duties. She took many painting lessons in oil painting until her instructor felt she had surpassed instruction. She also loved to crochet and loved camping with her husband every hunting season that they could. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for the last several years. She will be missed by all her family and friends who loved her.

Survivors include: her two children, Jack Tidwell of North Dallas, TX, and Dianna Chambers and husband Eric of Cahoctah, MI; her grandchildren, Leah Mann and husband Scott, Rebekah Segoviano and husband Felix and their three children, Matthew Tidwell and wife Nichole; brother in law, Paul Tidwell; sisters-in-law Carma and Bobby; niece Stephanie Franey and her children, as well as many other relatives and friends.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary Lee White, her husband, Jack Tidwell, her sister, Evelyn Teeters, and her grandson Bleu Chambers.  

Family and friends are welcome to come pay their respects to Berniece at the Hinton Turner Funeral Home Thursday and Friday from 9AM – 9 PM, and at a gathering of family and friends that will be at Eakly Cemetery on Saturday, 11:00 AM, July 20, 2019, Eakly, OK
