Valeta Joy Seurer

Valeta Joy Seurer was born on September 2, 1945 in Hydro, OK to James David and Mary Almeda (Evans) Payne. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2020 in Weatherford, OK at the age of 75. Valeta was raised in the Hydro and Lookeba Sickles area. She graduated High School at Lookeba Sickles. She married Gary Lynn Seurer on November 10, 1961. They made their home in Hinton. She was a cosmetologist and worked for a short time at Inez’s Beauty Shop. She also babysat, worked at the Cherokee Restaurant, and retired from Hinton Public Schools where she worked in the cafeteria. Valeta was a member of First Baptist Church in Hinton, OK. She was truly her family’s Prayer Warrior.  

Survivors Include: her children, Deanna Dawn (Missy) Seurer of Yukon, OK, and Darwin Duane Seurer and his wife Rhonda of Hinton, OK, her grandchildren, Kylan, Kennan and wife Kali, her brothers, Melvin Payne of Duncan, OK, and Harold Payne of Kansas City, MO, brothers in law, Jimmy Seurer and his wife Denise, and Kelvin Seurer and his wife Kim of Hinton, OK; her special ones who simply knew her as Weda: Trent, Tamra, Damon, Andi, Jade, Douglas, Danyelle, Mary, Valerie, Quinten, Haley, Slade, Bentley, Saylor, Tyler, Braydon, Sarah, Jacob, Kelby, Kendal, Kamden, as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Payne, her husband, Gary Seurer, her sisters, Thelma Harden, Ruth Webster, Jewel Love, and Lucille “Dot” Isaman, her brothers, Jack, Orvell, J.D., Joe, Luke, and Dean Payne, Sisters-in-law, Glenda Harris and Janet Lashley, and nephew Kelby Seurer.

Services:  First Baptist Church, Monday, 2:00 PM, October 5, 2020, Hinton, OK

Officiating: Rev. Steve Murray

Burial:  Hinton Cemetery, Hinton, OK
