Vanita Lois Birdshead was born on February 14, 1968 in Clinton, OK to Stephen and Wilma M. (Stoneroad) Birdshead. Vanita passed away on October 15, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 55. Vanita was part of the last class to graduate from the Concho Indian School, and graduated from Sequoia High School in Tahlequah, OK. She attended electronic technical school and learned how to build computers, which she was very proud of. Vanita was a great basketball player and passed that on to her daughters who are also really good players. She liked to cook and had worked in the restaurant industry in various jobs from cook to waitressing. Vanita liked to read, laugh and joke around, and loved OU of which she was a big fan. She was a caring person who cared deeply for her family.
Vanita is survived by her children, Ashley Karty of El Reno, OK, Amariss Karty of El Reno, OK, Aubrey Karty of El Reno, OK, Alaney Karty of El Reno, OK, Andre Sweezy of OKC,OK, and JJ Soap of Shawnee, OK, her grandchildren, Nathaniel, Xavier, DeCarlos, Kyla, Kylen, Kyelle, Kylar, Kyra, Kyle Jr., and Isabella, her siblings, Donovan Birdshead of El Reno, OK, Peggy Bigpond of El Reno, OK, and Wilbur Birdshead of El Reno, OK, and her special granddaughter, Kasey Birdshead, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Vanita was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen Birdshead and Wilma Meeks and husband William Meeks, her brother, William Birdshead, her sister, Karen Elizabeth Birdshead, her grandparents, Rev. John Stoneroad and Maud Stoneroad, and Oscar and Jessie Birdshead.
