Stephanie Lee (Wauqua) Keener Obituary
Stephanie Lee Keener was born on August 9, 1975 in Clinton, OK to Mary (Locke) Scott and Ikey Lee Wauqua. She passed away on January 2, 2025, in Oklahoma City, OK, surrounded by her family and loved ones at the age of 49. Stephanie grew up in Hinton, Lookeba, and Binger, and later graduated from Binger-Oney High School in 1993. She was an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation. She played basketball throughout all her school years, in which she won several titles and awards, and developed a lifelong love of the game. Stephanie married Kyle Lynn Keener on May 28, 1994 in Sickles, OK. The couple made their home in Sickles and share a daughter, Kayli, who was Stephanie’s absolute pride and joy. Stephanie had a great sense of humor, loved to joke with her family and friends, and gave them all nicknames, which they still go by to this day. Kayli remembers countless hours spent at the gym practicing with her Mom for game days, which Stephanie was always front row and center for. She and Kayli also loved to go to the movies together, especially the scary ones. Stephanie loved taking her beloved niece, Alexa, to the park. She especially enjoyed playing Uno, Yahtzee, and Clue, loved coloring with the kids, she was an amazing cook, and was a huge OU and Nike fan. July 4th was her favorite holiday, she absolutely loved all the “pop pops.” It was last July that Stephanie learned she had cancer. She fought a short but courageous battle and did not let the cancer overcome her. Stephanie decided it was time to go home to Heaven to see her beloved Grandma Locke, her sister Tasha aka “Ta-Ta” and her special cousin Rachel as well as her fur baby Jaxon and all the many other fur babies she had along the way.
Stephanie joined her grandparents, Dora and Doyle Locke, Roscoe and Etta Shemayme, her father, Ikey Lee Wauqua, her very special grandpa in law, Howard Hitt, her sister, Tasha Scott, her cousin, Rachel Locke, her aunt, Linda Smallen, her uncle, Roy Locke, her Great-Uncles Hershel Locke and Orvel Lock, and many other relatives and friends.
Survivors Include: her husband, Kyle Keener of Sickles, OK, her beloved daughter, Kayli Keener of Sickles, OK, her mother, Mary Scott and husband Bobby of Mustang, OK, her sister, Lacey Hall and husband Jesse of Mustang, OK, her nieces and nephew, Aubree “Bobbers” Hall, Alexa “Miss Lex” Hall, Autumn Rhoads, and Adrian Rhoads, as well as many other relatives and friends.
