Shane Lee Wheat Obituary
Shane Lee Wheat (AKA “Luke Duke” Shane Lee Wheat) was born in Bakersfield, CA on October 12, 1968 to David and Joanne (Tyler) Wheat. The family left California in the summer of 1973, heading to Chickasha, OK in a ford truck with a camper shell, their belongings, and six kids in the bed of the camper. Shane attended school in Chickasha. He met Sherry Kevin at Pickers and from that union they had two kids, Shana and Jamie. Shane enjoyed fishing, camping and hanging out with friends. He had a mean streak a mile long but also had a heart of gold; he would help anyone in need. Shane later met Norma Cook and took part in helping raise her five kids during their relationship. He worked various jobs including painting houses with his father David and roofing houses with his uncle Paul Robinson. He most recently worked on pipelines for his ex-brother-in-law Randy Shelton. Shane passed away on April 1, 2026 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 57.
Shane was preceded in death by his parents, David and Joanne Wheat; his brother, David Wheat; his nephew, Justin Ray Wheat; his grandparents, Ida Bell and Louie Wheat & Raymond and Zona Tyler; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include his daughter, Shana Lynn Steinmeyer of Aurora, CO; his sisters, Kathy and husband Bobby White of Anadarko, OK, Teresa Ratliff and husband James of Chickasha, OK, Cheryl Shelton of Anadarko, OK, Tammy Cope of Chickasha, OK; ten nephews, five nieces as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Shane also had many best friends he considered his adopted family and would have helped them even when he didn’t have the money. He always had a good time and will be greatly missed by Lisa Farmer of Fort Cobb, OK; Gari Holloway of Lexington, OK; and Traci Vidrine of Anadarko, OK as well as many others. He built lasting relationships and will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends.
Special thanks to Shenna Roy of Anadarko, OK who stood by his side through thick and thin and is devastated by this loss.
Rest in peace baby brother; until we see you again. You are loved and missed, our rock and our advisor; you were our everything. Thank you for being you.
