Ruth Ann (Goins) Magness

Ruth Ann Magness was born June 10, 1942, in Okmulgee, OK to Rev. Otto, Sr. and Wilma (Wheeler) Goins.  She passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 80.  Ruth Ann’s family lived in numerous communities during her childhood, and she graduated from Vinita High School with the Class of 1960.  She married Bob Magness on November 11, 1960, at The First Assembly of God Church in Vinita, OK.  Ruth Ann worked as a teaching assistant in the Geary Schools, and she worked as a bookkeeper for the Wilson family at The Cherokee.  She played the piano and organ at the New Life Assembly of God Church, where she was a member, for funerals, weddings and services for over 60 years.  Ruth Ann supplied cookies and treats for the teacher’s lounge at Geary Schools and was involved in supporting all the sports, band, and other events. She spent countless hours cooking and baking for community events and for family and friends over the years.  By far Ruth Ann’s favorite activity was the role of Nan to her grandchildren. Nothing pleased her more then to hear of their accomplishments and activities.

Survivors include husband, Bob Magness of the home, Geary, OK, 2 children, Levi Goins and husband Jeff of Sheboygan, WI, and Rob Magness and wife Andrea of Okarche, OK, 5 grandchildren, Olivia Goins, Carlyn Magness, Raedyn Magness, Jaedyn Magness, Mason, Magness 4 brothers, Bob Goins, Rev. Tom Goins, Dave Goins and wife Kay, and Don Goins and wife JoAnn, sisters in law, Maudie Goins, Loretta Mardis and husband Garl, and Wilma Magness, numerous dear nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Otto, Sr. and Wilma Goins, sister, Wanda Sanders and husband B.J. Sanders, brother, Otto Goins, Jr., in laws, Darlene Goins, Donald Magness.   

Services: 2PM, Wednesday, February 23, 2023, New Life Assembly of God Church, Geary, OK

Officiating:  Rev. Darrla Golden and Rev. Kelly Goins
