Robert McKinley "Mac" Simpson, Jr. Obituary

Rev. Robert McKinley Simpson Jr. was born on December 1, 1947, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Robert McKinley Simpson Sr. and Esther (Wood) Kaulaity. He passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 77.  Mac, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Crooked Oak High School and attended DeVry Business College in Oklahoma City and Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Mac worked as a security officer at Haskell Junior College and as a police officer in Pawnee, Oklahoma.  He was united in marriage to Pamela Simpson, who preceded him in death. Later, Mac pursued his calling by attending Methodist Seminary School in southeastern Oklahoma, becoming an ordained minister. For many years, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to his ministry and the JJ Methvin Church in Anadarko, OK.  Rev. Robert McKinley Simpson Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to his ministry, and the love he shared with his family and community. He will be deeply missed.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pamela; his son, Matthew Simpson; his stepdaughter, Vanessa Dyer; his brother, Gary Cravatt; his sister, Sunbeam Wallace; and his cousin, Sam Wise.


Mac is survived by his children, Melanie Simpson of Oklahoma City, Monte Simpson of Midwest City, and Michelle Ramos of Oakdale, California; his stepson, Michael Tartsah of Anadarko; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ramona Lampkin of Clinton, Oklahoma, Steve Cravatt and Elaine of Anadarko, Debbie Haworth and Gary of Burns Flat, and Alexandria Anderson and Larry Stevens of Elk City, Oklahoma.  Special family members include Johnine Adomis and Dan Jennine, the late Jim Bortmess, Henrietta Vasquez and Manuel, Ben Wise and Judy, and Sam Wise’s wife, Kim.


All night Wake services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Gib Miles Emergency Response Center in Geary, Oklahoma.


Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the same location, officiated by Rev. Rudy Tartsah Jr. with burial to follow in the Geary Cemetery, Geary, OK Services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Geary, OK.
