Robert Ervon Lewis was born May 31, 1946, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Ervon Roy and Dorine Viola (Bush) Lewis. He passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 80.
When Robert was a young child, his family relocated to California, where he grew up and attended Roosevelt High School in Fresno. He graduated with the Class of 1965 and later that year was drafted into the United States Army. Robert proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until completing his military service in 1968.
Following his time in the Army, Robert returned to California and attended Fresno State University. He later began a career with the Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked as a signal draftsman. As technology advanced, his work transitioned into computers, an area he continued to enjoy throughout his career.
Robert married Beverly Jean “Jeannie” Timblin on June 15, 1975, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout their years together, Robert and Jeannie called several different states home before eventually returning to Oklahoma. Robert later worked for J.B. Hunt and at the prison in Hinton before he and Jeannie retired to Anadarko.
Robert had a lifelong love of reading. He was rarely without a good book, and as technology changed, he embraced it and enjoyed reading on his tablet. He also loved gardening and especially enjoyed growing vegetables.
Robert was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Gilbert-Fossett American Legion Post #230. His service to his country was an important part of his life.
Robert is survived by his sister, Arline West of Hinton, Oklahoma, and her children, Bryan West and Brenda Murphy of Hinton; Brenda’s daughter, Alecia Shelton and husband Josh; great great nephews & niece, Kyson & Kase and Taver & Tinzlee; his brother, Gerald Lewis of Oregon, and his daughters, Lorraine of California and Valerie of Texas; and his brother, Lairie Lewis and wife Karlyn of Colorado, and their daughters, Kim of California, Tiffany of South Dakota, and Melissa of Colorado.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ervon Roy and Dorine Viola Lewis; his beloved wife, Jeannie; his sister-in-law, Wilma Lewis; his brother-in-law, Allen West and great nephew, Cody Thornton.
Graveside services for Robert will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Hinton Cemetery, with Rev. Sam Harris officiating.
