Ralph Norman Subia was born November 4, 1946, to Benito Garcia and Pauline (Dunlap) Subia in Lawton, Oklahoma. He married Jaculyn Wilson in 1977. He passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 78. Ralph graduated from Eakly High School in 1965 and proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the oilfield for many years. His children often rode along with him while he worked, keeping him company as he operated the machinery. A natural teacher, Ralph passed along his knowledge of heavy equipment to his children and grandchildren, always taking the time to ensure they learned the skills he valued. He had a unique gift for making each and every grandchild feel like they were his favorite. Ralph enjoyed painting, telling stories, joking around, singing, and spending time with and making his friend Shirley laugh. He was a member of the Caddo Cultural Club and had been learning the Caddoan language.
He is survived by his children: Jason Reece of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Eric Subia and wife Kimberly of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and Julie Subia of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Grandchildren include Jaden Reece of Tecumseh; Eric Donnivan Subia and wife Elizabeth of Norman; Logan Subia of Norman; Kaleb Reeves and wife Kimberly of Hydro; Jackson Reeves and wife Alexis of Weatherford; and Marley Reeves of Weatherford. Great-grandchildren are Klanc and Klair Reeves, Malcolm Reeves, and Ruby Mae Subia on the way, he is also survived by his siblings: Carolyn Martinez and husband Otto of Edmond; Dolores Bigfoot Sipes of Norman; Richard Subia and wife Peggy of Tuttle; and John Ellery Subia and spouse Cliff of St. Petersburg, Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Ana Claire Subia; and siblings Myrna Lynn Lee, Ronald Franklin Subia, Joe Subia, Felix Subia, Mary Casillas, and Patsy Ayala.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home in Hinton.
Funeral services will be held at the Eakly Assembly of God Church in Eakly Tuesday at 2:00 PM, September 2, 2025, with Reverend Jeremy Brooks officiating. Ralph’s son, Eric Subia, will read the obituary, and Reverend Dicky Wilson will offer the closing prayer. Burial will follow at Poage Cemetery in Colony, Oklahoma.
