Obituary Phyllis Marie Kurtz

Phyllis Marie Hutchens Kurtz was born to Carl E Hutchens and Bertie L Rosson Hutchens on November 25, 1931 in Paw Paw Bottoms, Oklahoma (near Muldrow). 

She was the youngest of 7 children.  Her family moved to Geary, Oklahoma when she was 2 years old.  She attended Geary public schools and graduated in 1950.  Phyllis married Richard A Kurtz, Jr. on July 9, 1950.  To this union three sons were born:  Richard (Dick) A. Kurtz, III, Jerry Lynn, and Michael Dale.

Phyllis worked at the school cafeteria for fourteen years.  When her husband, Junior, passed away, she moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Liberty National Bank for eighteen and a half years.  She moved back to Geary in 1999 to be near family and friends. 

Phyllis joined her family in heaven on April 11, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons:  Jerry and Michael; Sisters:  Flossie Clary, Minnie Huggins, Bonnie Williams, Willie Wrede, and brothers:  Edgar Hutchens and Garland Hutchens. 

Survivors include:  Son:  Richard (Dick) A Kurtz, III and wife Brenda of Geary; daughter-in-law:  Linda Kurtz of Texarkana, Texas; eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Geary Cemetery Fund, PO BOX 125, Geary, OK 73040.  The family will hold a private celebration of life.
