Patsy Ruth House Baker was born August 4, 1929, to Leonard and Pauline (Halsey) House in Anadarko, Oklahoma, at the home of her maternal grandparents. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at her home at the age of 96.  Patsy grew up in the Lookeba community and graduated from Lookeba High School. On May 14, 1949, she married Don Baker in Wheeler, TX. The couple made their home in the Lookeba area where they began their life together as farmers. They purchased two farms in the mid 1960’s including the Barthel place, where Don built a brick home in 1970. Patsy and Don spent the remainder of their married life there. Following Don’s passing in May of 1983, Patsy continued to live in the family home she cherished for the rest of her life.  From this union, three children were born: Sandra Kay “Sandy” Schimmel, Joan Carol Baker, and Brian Craig Baker.  Patsy and Don farmed primarily peanuts, along with some cotton, and raised cattle. Their hard work and dedication earned recognition for producing outstanding peanut crops, winning awards for crop quality in two consecutive years in 1970 and 1971. These honors included trips to the Bahamas and New Orleans.   Patsy was a faithful member of the Hinton Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly, going places with her sister Carol Mullins and watching hummingbirds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Pauline House; her husband, Don Baker; her daughter, Joan Carol Baker; two brothers, John Dee House and Sonny House; son-in-law, Jim Schimmel; three nephews; one brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Mullins of Coldspring, Texas, her daughter, Sandra Kay “Sandy” Schimmel of Lookeba; her son, Brian Craig Baker of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Justin Williams and wife Ashley of Yukon, Reagan Baker, Craig Baker, and Erin Baker all of Oklahoma City, OK; 4-great-grandchildren; bonus grandchildren: Neely Setters and Thomas of Anadarko, Dane and Lori Schimmel of Coyle, Oklahoma, and Katelyn Minor of Wadsworth, Ohio; seven bonus great-grandchildren; six bonus great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Nelda House of Hinton, Eunice House of El Reno, and former daughter in law, Leigh Jones Baker, and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who helped Patsy remain in her home during the final years of her life. Special thanks are extended to Debbie Taylor for providing transportation, assistance, and caregiving through the years, and to Kendi Jones, Peggy East, Cindy Phillips, and Terri Chapa for their loving care, compassion, and friendship.  Patsy will be remembered for her strong work ethic, steadfast faith, devotion to her family, and the kindness she extended to those around her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched throughout her 96 years. 

Funeral services will be held at Hinton Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., she will be buried next to her family in the Lookeba Cemetery, Lookeba, OK under the direction of Turner Funeral Home.
