Nicole Claudine Hamel

Nicole Claudine Hamel was born December 25, 1970, in Columbia, South Carolina the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. Hamel of Oxford, Massachusetts.  She passed away July 28, 2022 in Prague Oklahoma at the age of 51. She grew up in Oxford, Massachusetts and later moved to Oklahoma. 

She graduated from Bay Path Vocational school in Charlton, MA in 1988 where she studied cosmetology.  Then later attended Salter Nursing school in MA.  Her heart’s desire was to help the hurting and rejected ones.  After moving to Oklahoma in 2002, she started attending church where she gave her life to Jesus Christ and later she became part of many outreaches.  She was a caregiver to friends that became like family. 

Nicole was always full of life. Through her heartache in life she would always try and encourage others and give them hope.  One of her favorite sayings of her brother-in-law was “You Can Do It”.   She loved finding things that no one else wanted and would love it when her friends would give her things that she wanted.  She would then try to restore them back to ‘life’.  She never wanted anything to be wasted.   

Nicole deeply loved her family. She was greatly loved by many.  Nicole never said ‘no’ to a person in need, always running the extra mile.  Her beautiful smile was so contagious. 

Survivors include: 4 children, Cameron Soto, Derik Alicea of Southbridge, Massachusetts, Ja’nae & Jayla Hamel of Oklahoma, her father Rene Hamel of Oxford, Massachusetts, her 5 siblings, Gregory Hamel of Oxford, Massachusetts, Michelle Courtney of Oxford, Massachusetts, Monique Smith of Binger, Oklahoma, Jim Hamel of Benton, Arkansas and Christopher Hamel of Oxford, Massachusetts her three grandchildren, Messiah, Elise and Cassius, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Veronica Hamel of Oxford, Massachusetts 

Memorial Service:  Monday, August 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Rock of Restoration Church, Geary, OK.
