Newton Miller Obituary

Newton Wayne Miller was born October 8, 1940, to George Bennett and Flora Bernice (Hohmeyer) Miller west of Hinton, OK.  He passed away Monday, August 12, 2019, at his home very near the same farm where he was born.  Wayne attended Hydro Schools and graduated from there in 1958.  After high school he worked at a gas station on Old 66 hauling fuel for the new interstate that was being built.  In the fall he went to work at the Hydro Cotton Gin.  Wayne married Joy Ann Smith on May 25, 1959 at The Bethel Church near Hinton, OK.  In 1960 he began farming with his father and worked during the harvest seasons at the Gin.  He worked his way from an outside hand to the title of Ginner over the 13 years he was employed there.  Wayne farmed and ranched full time following that.  Wayne raised cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, peacocks and farmed cotton, peanuts, maize, and wheat over the years.  Wayne had a great love for flying and worked toward his pilot’s license.  He took many solo flights.  Wayne loved to travel to the mountains.  He loved to build things and fabricate tools to help in his farming operation.  He spent much of his time working on repairing equipment and driving his tractors.  He loved and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.  Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church, Hinton, OK. Wayne made a profession of faith and was saved when he was eighteen.
