Nancy Ann (Smith) Shaffer

Nancy Ann Shaffer was born on December 11th, 1954, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Glenn B Smith and Elta Pearl (Clay) Smith. Nancy went Home to her Lord and Savior on March 6th, 2023, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 68.

Nancy graduated from Lookeba-Sickles High School where she played basketball and was co-valedictorian of her senior class. After high school Nancy started working at 3M where she met Joe Shaffer.  They were married on January 10th, 1975, in Sickles, Oklahoma. God chose Jennifer to be their daughter, and she was born in 1980. Nancy and Joe later chose Billy Miller to be added to their family and God blended the family together.  She enjoyed and loved her family most of all, but also enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafting, and giving gifts to people.

After Jennifer graduated from high school Nancy started working for Weatherford Public Schools.  She worked there for 18 years as a school secretary. She loved the kids and the staff at the school, considered them “Her Family” and was affectionately known as “Miss Nancy.” She was a longtime member of Pine Acres Mennonite Brethren Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Survivors Include: her husband, Joe Shaffer of the home, Weatherford, Oklahoma; her daughter, Jennifer Barbee and husband Troy of Yukon, Oklahoma; her son, Billy Miller and wife Amber of Yukon, Oklahoma; her six grandchildren, Rachel Barbee, Ryan Barbee, Colin Miller, Aidan Miller, Austin Miller, and Kaylee Miller, all of Yukon, Oklahoma; her sister, Nelda Clark and friend Ferris Jones of Fay, Oklahoma; her sister-in-law, Karen Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma; her sister-in-law, Susan Richardson and husband Preston of Richmond, Texas; and her special cousin Trleta Mickle of Hinton, Oklahoma as well as many other relatives and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Elta Smith, and her brother, Neil Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Russell-Murray Hospice, and the family would like to thank them for their support and compassion.
