Michael E. Westbrook Obituary
Michael E. Westbrook was born on November 4, 1961, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Ronald Eugene and Carmen Jean (Kerbo) Westbrook. He passed away on October 23, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 63. Michael grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Douglas High School. He later moved to Binger to be near his grandparents, and it was there that he met the love of his life, Tami Dawn Phelps. The two were married on May 17, 1982, in Binger, Oklahoma, and together they built a beautiful life and family. Mike had a love for the simple joys in life. He enjoyed raising pigeons in the backyard and took great pride in caring for them. He was also an avid coon hunter and loved spending time in the woods with his brother, Steve. The two even went halves on a hunting dog and shared many adventures together. During those days, CB radios were all the rage—Mike’s handle was “Modena Kid,” while Steve’s was “Scooby-Doo.” Mike’s greatest passion was raising and training horses, especially for roping and team roping. His first horse, and best friend, was Skutter—a special gift he received when he married Tami. He loved wearing his 10-gallon hat and cruising around in his Monte Carlo, often ending the day with a big glass of ice-cold milk, which he had to have before bed. He loved rodeos and passed that passion on to his children. His daughter, Heather, found her love of horses and all animals, and his son, Chisum, carried on the family’s love for horses and farming. Mike was known for his generous spirit and willingness to help anyone in need. He truly would give the shirt off his back to someone going through tough times. Handy and hard-working, he could fix almost anything—plumbing or whatever needed doing. Mike was a devoted caregiver to his parents, wife, and children. Mike loved his grandchildren so very much; they were his pride and joy. He taught them so much about livestock and just “being at the barn”. He loved his family deeply, was a faithful provider, and took great pride in the life they built together.
He is survived by his children, Heather Pafford and husband Jeremy of Binger, Oklahoma; and Chisum Westbrook and wife Megan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his grandchildren, Tyler, Grayson, Keaton, Slayton, Ryatt, Tuff, and Kutter; his brother, Steve Westbrook and wife Phyllis of Binger, Oklahoma; his aunt, Georgia Wells of Binger, Oklahoma; his cousin, Michelle Austin and husband Sherman of Apache, Oklahoma; along with nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ronnie and Carmen Westbrook; his wife, Tami Westbrook; his great-granddaughter, Zepplyn Dawn-Anne Pafford; and his grandparents, Dub and Jean Kerbo.
