Michael Lee Sankey

Michael Lee Sankey was born May 15, 1975, to Dushane Sankey in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at his brother’s home in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 51.

Michael attended Geary Schools and lived in Geary and El Reno for most of his life. He enjoyed playing hand games and spending time with family and friends. Michael was known for his sense of humor and was always joking around. He was quite the jokester and enjoyed making those around him laugh.

Michael is survived by his children, Cliffton Sankey of Geary, Jacob Sterling, Jamie Yellowfish of Enid, Justen Sankey of Anadarko, step children, Fantasia Martinez of Blanchard, Ashley Leake of Enid, and Leotis Richey of El Reno; grandchildren, Ural, Rose, Isaiah, D’Angelo, Chevy, Penelope, and one on the way; one brother, Nathaniel WhiteBear of Chickasha; aunt, Marilyn Jones of El Reno; uncle, Ira Sankey of Oklahoma City; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dushane Sankey; sister, Fashane WhiteBear; and grandparents, Mary Lou and James Blackbear, Jabo Sankey, and aunts, Mary Sankey, Lorraine Campbell, and Daisy Blackbear.

An all-night wake service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Gib Miles ERC in Geary.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Gib Miles ERC in Geary, OK with Rev. Waylan Upchego officiating.
