Mary Helen Thomason Obituary

Mary Helen Thomason was born on September 18, 1939 in Lookeba, OK to Robert and Texanna Jewel (Oxley) Smith.  She passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in Clinton, OK.


Mary grew up and graduated from Lookeba High School.  Following graduation, she met the love of her life, a local boy from Bethel community named Jerry Thomason.  They united in marriage at the Bethel Church on June 1, 1957.  They settled on Bethel Road, near Hydro, OK to raise their family.  Mary took care of the home and their two daughters while Jerry farmed.  After Jerry's passing in 1988, Mary helped to take care of several people in the community.  She enjoyed her flowers and had a true passion for gardening.  Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hinton, OK.


Survivors include:  daughters, Jaynee Thomason of Hinton, OK and Karen Van Dollen of Hermitage, TN; two grandchildren, Alex Van Dollen of Sterling Heights, MI and James Van Dollen of Memphis, TN; and brother, Bobby Smith, his wife Barbara & their daughter Sandy, all of Ft. Worth, TX.


Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Texanna Smith; husband, Jerry Thomason; and two sisters, Christy Kluver and Sue Schimmel.


Service:  First Baptist Church, Hinton, OK, Friday, January 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM


Officiating:  Rev. Keith Gillham


Burial:  Hinton Cemetery, Hinton, OK
