Margaret M. Moon Thompson, 95, of Calumet, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. She was born October 21, 1929, in Geary to Harry Owen and Faye (England) Moon.  Margaret graduated from Calumet High School where she proudly played basketball. On May 10, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harry Aldean Thompson in Calumet. They made their home in the Calumet area and spent their lives there together until his passing on February 2, 2011.  Margaret lived a full and active life. She worked in Warren’s Dress Shop for several years, served as a school bus driver, and helped operate a cotton gin alongside her sister, Nellie. She was a woman of many talents and passions, but she was perhaps best known for her love of golf. Margaret was an avid golfer, participating in tournaments throughout the state. She was a proud member of the El Reno and Kingfisher Country Clubs and Cedar Valley Country Club in Guthrie. She was also involved in the Calumet Blood Drive during its early years. She enjoyed trips to the casino, especially Bingo Wednesdays, and was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and Elks Lodge in El Reno. Margaret served for many years as co-secretary of the Calumet Alumni Association, showing her deep dedication to her hometown.  Margaret was the beloved matriarch of her family. Known for her strength, independence, and loving spirit, she left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She was known for her generosity and unwavering belief that “her way was the only way”—a testament to her confidence and determination.

She is survived by her daughter, Lou Anne Ludlow and husband Johnny of Calumet; daughter-in-law Janice Bomhoff and husband Leon of Calumet; grandchildren Jim Thompson, Justin Thompson, Malinda Stilley and husband Mike, and Kevin Alig; great-grandchildren Heather and Derek Thompson, Trevor Thompson and wife Micalah, Jentri Thompson and Ryder Thompson, Baylor Stilley and wife Madison, McKinley Stilley, Presley Stilley, Cale Stilley, and Kross Stilley; and great-great-grandchildren Lincoln Thompson, Jaxxyn Thompson, Brynston Fletcher, and Bryson Fletcher; along with many other family members and friends. 

A special thank you is extended to her dedicated caregivers: Lacy Rushing, Christy Hickerson, Heather Thompson, Jessica Lopez, and Blanca Rivera.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Faye Moon; her husband, Aldean Thompson; her son, Moon Thompson; and her sister, Nellie Meyer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Geary Cemetery in Geary, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Calumet Fire Department, Calumet, OK 73014.
