Lynn Andrew Marvel Obituary

    Lynn A. Marvel was born on August 6, 1951, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Jerry E.


and Janella (Armstrong) Marvel. He passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026,


in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 74. Lynn was raised in Clinton,


Oklahoma, and later moved to Oklahoma City, where he attended Putnam City


High School.


Lynn dedicated over 50 years of his life working as a scale technician for Toledo


Scale Company. He was known for his incredible ability to tinker, fix, and build


just about anything. A talented woodworker and carpenter, Lynn was always


ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He took great pride in teaching


others and generously sharing his knowledge and skills.


On April 17, 1971, Lynn married the love of his life, Glenda Driggers, in Ripley,


Tennessee. Together, they built a life centered around their family and adventure.


Lynn cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, enjoying tent


camping in earlier years, enjoying coaching and supporting his kid’s athletics,


later traveling, boating, and exploring in his motorhome and fifth wheel.


Lynn will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud


grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a kind neighbor, a patient teacher,


and a man whose wisdom and generosity touched many lives.


He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Glenda Marvel of Warr Acres,


Oklahoma; 2 children, Julie Estes and her husband, William, of Owasso,


Oklahoma, and Lonnie Marvel of Yukon, Oklahoma; his seven grandsons: Ryan


Schwalk of Chicago, Illinois; Rob Estes of Nowata, Oklahoma; Brad Schwalk of


Mustang, Oklahoma; Austin Schwalk of Owasso, Oklahoma; Thomas Estes and


his wife, Maddy, of Owasso, Oklahoma; Garrett Schwalk and his wife, Rachel, of


Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Cole Marvel of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is also


survived by five great-grandchildren: Roman Schwalk, Izzie Schwalk, Sophia Schwalk,


Lincoln Estes, and Sloane Estes; his brothers, Jerry Marvel and his wife, Denise, of


Houston, Texas, and Donald Britton and his wife, Christie, of Amber, Oklahoma; one


sister, Toni Rogers of Tuttle, Oklahoma; his oldest and dearest friend turned brother in law,


William “Billy” Driggers and his wife Sarah of Ripley, TN, other in-laws; Wayne and Lisa


Driggers of Yukon, OK; Gloria Smith of Edmond, OK; Pam and Bob Gibbons of Edmond, OK;


Marsha and Rodney Dahlenburg of Warr Acres, OK.


Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Eugene (Gene)


and Halley Barger Marvel; and J.B. and Opal Armstrong.

 

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at One


Church, 7941 NW 23rd Street, Bethany, Oklahoma, with Pastor Darin Troutman


and Mr. Wayne Driggers officiating.
