Lucy Wabaunasee Obituary

Lucy Alice Wabaunasee was born on February 4, 1952 to Nathan Merl Brown and Laverne Williams Brown in Gray County, Texas. She passed away January 5, 2020 at the age of 67 in Yukon, Oklahoma. Lucy attended school in Gracemont and Binger and after graduating she received her cosmetologist license from Caddo Kiowa Vo-Tech in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. She worked as a cosmetologist and cook for many years at many different places. Lucy served as a member of The Caddo Cultural Club, Caddo Native American Church where she served as secretary, the Caddo Nation Repatriation Committee, American Indian Exposition Board Member, Caddo Nation Enrollment Committee, Caddo Nation Election Board, Caddo Nation Elders Committee, and Secretary on the Tribal Council. She was a proud member and supporter of The Caddo Tribe. Lucy enjoyed sewing, decorating, cooking and sharing her cultural heritage. Lucy married Walter Wabaunasee on January 30, 1981, and from this union they welcomed a daughter, LaRisha.

 

 

Survivors Include: her daughter, LaRisha Wabaunasee and Joe Ware of Hinton, OK, her grandchildren, Christian, Obie, Dale, Kate Michaelene, Dewey Butler, Jr., Jaime, Thomas, Francis , Ezekial and many others too numerous to list, Her sisters; Patricia Brown-Rocha, Corinne Renee Brown Aguinaga, and Marilyn Threlkeld, brothers Merrill Wilson and Ernest Chief Wilson, as well as a long list of additional sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Laverne Brown, her sisters, Susan Briscoe and Sharon Silago, husband, Walter Wabaunasee, and her grandson Brandon Drake Ware-Wabaunasee,

 

Wake Service: All night wake service, Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Binger Baptist Church, Binger, OK

Graveside Services: Williams Family Cemetery, Wednesday, at Noon, in Binger, OK

Officiating: Rev. Marvin Delaware

Burial:  Williams Family Cemetery, Binger, OK
