Leonard Frisby Obituary

Leonard Charles Frisby was born June 9, 1935 in Strong, Arkansas to Roy Leonard and Ruby (Fife) Frisby.  He passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 85.  He attended schools in Strong and El Dorado, AR.  Leonard married Leilani Hines on July 10, 1959, in El Dorado, AR.  Leonard served in the United States Air Force and retired in 1976.  While in the Air Force, he served as the Crew Chief of the flight from California to Hawaii which picked up the Apollo 11 crew when they splashed down.  Once retired, Leonard made his home in Tipton, OK.  He worked as a custom wheat harvester and cotton stripper with Tommy Herring.  Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising chickens, and riding motorcycles.  Since 1994, he and Leilani took motorcycle trips every year until his health prevented him from riding.  Leonard then bought a Cushman and traveled to the Sturgis Cushman Meet where he won the Best Original Cushman Trophy.  Leonard loved animals so much that he rescued a squirrel in Louisiana, brought it home, and named it Windy.  Windy became his beloved pet and traveled with Leonard and his family to Yellowstone.  Throughout his life, he was always rescuing animals.  He had a sweet morning routine with his cat, Callie, who shared the breakfast table with him each day.  Leonard spent his free time collecting tools and guns. He was a lifelong member of The American Motorcycle Association. He was also a member of Cushman Club of America and the Oklahoma Cushman Club. Leonard relied on his faith and made a point to read his Bible in its entirety twice each year.  In June of 2020, Leonard and Leilani relocated to Hinton, OK.
