Lee Thiessen Obituary

Lee Kermit Thiessen was born November 28, 1928, to Bernhard and Susanna (Peters) Thiessen between Hinton and Hydro on the family farm.  Lee passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at his home on that same farm.  He attended Mound School and then attended Hinton High School where he was active in FFA. He graduated in the class of 1946 and later drove a homemade school bus for the Bethel community.  He farmed with his brother Floyd for a few years before serving his country in the U.S. Army.  He served in the Korean Conflict in the artillery division.  Upon returning home to Caddo County, Lee met Cleta Murphy from Hinton.  The two dated for a time before getting married on August 21, 1955, at The First Christian Church in Hinton.  Lee worked on the rock quarry that his father owned and operated and soon after, began farming full time.  He farmed wheat, cotton, and later raised cattle.  Lee and Cleta raised one daughter and three sons.  He and Cleta helped many people over the years who had fallen on hard times.  In his retired years, he was meticulous about his yard and garden.  He was always a good steward of the land that had been entrusted to him. He loved reading his Bible and spent each morning praying for his family.  Lee attended the Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church.
