LeRoy Gregory Obituary

LeRoy (Boog) Gregory was born on October 17, 1932 to Roy and Martha (Mattie) Tucker Gregory. He was born east of Binger on the Tucker family farm. He passed away in Oklahoma City on April 30, 2022. LeRoy attended school at Centerville and Lookeba schools. He married Treva Joan Bordwine in Grandfield, Ok. on September 17, 1955. LeRoy and Treva renewed their vows many years later at the Binger Church of God. He served 2 yrs in the Army and was stationed in Korea with the 13th Engineer Battalion ( Combat) Company B. After the military, he returned to Binger and got a job drilling test holes at Lawton for Earl Phillips. LeRoy and Treva had 1 daughter and 3 sons. He was a natural born mechanic and was self employed for many years. He drove a grocery delivery truck for Affiliated Foods, operated the Nu-gas station in Binger, operated a garage in Gracemont, operated the Sinclair Station in Binger for 2 years, and purchased the Binger motel, operating it for 14 years. LeRoy also worked for Bob Bowling Chevrolet in the 70s. LeRoy also drove a truck for Homer Meeks. In 1980 he purchased Gregory’s Garage, which Mike still runs today, later adding Carquest auto parts and operating it till his retirement in 2005. Racing was LeRoy’s passion. But he sure couldn’t drive them. Seems everyone always got in his way. Working on race cars was his greatest joy. At one time all 3 of his boy’s raced and also his son-in-law Keith. Then along came his grandson Jayman and he’s followed him around to the race tracks ever since. His race involvement continued until recently at Boog’s RC Track just south of his house, which his son Vic operates. He would head down and watch when feeling well enough. He loved Jesus and attended the Binger New Vision Church of God, where his friend Ed Parker got him started. LeRoy loved to travel and go on fishing trips with his best buddies Neil and Arleen Bordwine and Keith and Linda Gardner.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Laverna Mitchell, Bernice Phillips, and Erma Jean Thompson, 4 brothers-in-law, Walter Mitchell, Willie Phillips, Elwin Thompson, and Neil Bordwine (who was also his best friend), 1 sister-in-law, Regina Prince.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, of the home, Treva. His 4 children, Debbie & Keith DeVaughan of Binger, Victor Gregory of Binger, Mike & Karen Gregory of Binger, and Darrel & Kristen Gregory of Binger. 10 grandchildren, Lance DeVaughan (who LeRoy and Treva took care of during the day), Tyler Chance & Melanie DeVaughan, Jarika & Griffin Shaffer, Gena & Lee Brawley, Jennifer Flinn & Bobby Smith, Charly & Billy Clark, Jancie Gregory, Jayman & McKayla Gregory, Daytona & Courtney Gregory, and McKaegan Gregory. He also has 12 great grandchildren,, 2 sisters-in-law, LaVonna DeVaughan and Twila Hart. Also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
