Laveta Mae (Mathews) Ward

Laveta Mae Ward, age 81, passed on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in the Integris Hospice House, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1939, to Arnold and Hazel (Underwood) Mathews in Geary, Oklahoma. She was a hard-working Christian, working as a beautician most of her life, very active in church and the community. She loved cooking and especially for large family gatherings. Laveta loved spending time with friends and had lots of bunko stories to share. She loved gardening, and farming through her life with Bill, raising her kids and spending lots of time with grand and great-grand kids. She will be missed dearly by us all.

Laveta is survived by her 4 children, Peggy Ross and husband Clinton of Chickasha, OK, David Ward and wife Judy of Geary, OK, Billy Joe Ward and wife Vicki of Noble, OK, and Keith Ward and wife Leisa of Tyron, OK., daughter-in-law Dorothy Ward, brother Buddy Mathews and wife Jewel, 20-grandchildren, 42-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Ward, parents Arnold and Hazel Mathews, brothers Delmar Mathews and Kenny Mathews, and son Steve Ward.

Special thanks to the Integris Hospice House, the entire experience with the staff care and facility was amazing. And Turner Funeral Home for taking such great care of Laveta and our family members in the past.

Family has requested that masks be worn at the church.
