Kirk Lane Huff was born on May 22, 1960, in Watonga, Oklahoma, to William Martin and Juanita
Bernice (Derry) Huff. He passed away on January 29, 2026, in Okeene, Oklahoma, at the age of 65.
Kirk grew up in Watonga, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Watonga High School in 1978. Kirk
went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, earning his
bachelor’s degree in social services. He dedicated several years of his career to working with El Reno
Youth and Family Services, helping support and guide families and youth in need. In his younger
years, Kirk also worked as a crop duster for four to five years. He spent a majority of his life in
Watonga and later moved away for 10 years to El Reno, Oklahoma before returning to Watonga. He
then spent his last year in Okeene, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Kirk was known for his strong will and determination — often jokingly described as hard-headed
because he always believed he was right. He had a great sense of humor and was an extreme
jokester who loved making people laugh. He was a gifted storyteller who could talk for hours,
sometimes exaggerating just enough to make his stories even more entertaining. When Kirk was in
junior high, he was convinced the upstairs of his family home was haunted and refused to sleep there
without his brother Mark being upstairs also — a story that remained a favorite among the
family. Above all, Kirk was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved reading with his children and
grandchildren and enjoyed watching cartoons with them, especially Boss Baby and Shrek. He had a
big heart and treated many as his own children, always making sure others were fed and had a place
to stay when needed. Kirk also had a passion for technology and artificial intelligence. He enjoyed
creating AI-generated coloring books, t-shirts, and other projects through various apps he subscribed
to. His creativity and curiosity never faded. Kirk’s life centered around his family and friends, whom he
loved deeply. He will be remembered for his humor, generosity, storytelling, and unwavering
dedication to those he cared about.
He is survived by his six children and seven grandchildren: Jaiden Huff and wife Heather of
Okeene, parents of Kingston, Holden, and Journee Goad; Lane Huff and wife Alexia of Okeene,
parents of Liam Kirk Huff; Chris Sanders and wife Shannon of Kingfisher, with a baby on the
way; Isaac Sanders of Okeene; Tanner Winegeart and wife Samantha of Okeene, parents of Brantlee
and Blayklee Winegeart; and Dakota Winegeart and wife Terri of Cleo Springs, parents of Dayln
Winegeart; He is also survived by his ex-wife and caregiver, Sha-Marie Huff, of the home. Along with
many other bonus children and grandchildren, including his three dogs of 13 years, Liza, Pookie, and
Booty. Additional survivors include his brother, Mark Huff and wife Cyndi of Blanchard; niece Amy
Cullen and husband Danny of Edmond; nephews Ian Huff and wife Miranda of Guthrie, and Ben Tripp
and husband Zach of Oklahoma City; great nephews Luke, Kaleb and Jude Cullen of Edmond; great
niece Libbie Smith of Guthre; along with many other relatives and friends.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nita Huff; an infant brother; and his grandparents,
