Obituary

 Kenny Lee Forney was born December 6, 1949, to Garl Marvin and Joan (Weygandt) Forney in Watonga, OK.  He passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, at his home in Greenfield, OK at the age of 73.  Kenny grew up near the South Canadian River near Geary.  The Forney family relocated just Southwest of Watonga when Kenny was in the second grade.  Kenny could be found on a tractor most days even as a youngster.  He attended and graduated from Watonga Schools in the Class of 1968.  He played football and was active on judging teams in the FFA.  After graduation he went to Northeastern Oklahoma College and studied Animal Science.  He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.  Kenny married Mary Lou Cook on January 27, 1973, in Watonga, OK. The couple moved to Stillwater so that Kenny could attend OSU.  While they were there, they welcomed their firstborn, Michael.  The little family moved back to Blaine County and a couple years later they welcomed first daughter Ja’nette.  Quite a few years later they welcomed their second daughter Kyla.  In these years Kenny farmed, carried mail, and was a supervisor at Holytex and Temtro.  Kenny also worked for Greenfield Schools and then for Culligan for 20 years. He worked as a manager at Tractor Supply and Atwoods before his retirement. Kenny served as a deacon in the Greenfield and Trinity Baptist Churches.  He served as City Clerk in Greenfield.  He collected coins, always grew a garden, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was a hard-working man who was always helping others.  He loved The Lord and his family.      

Kenny is survived by his wife Mary of the home in Greenfield, OK, 3 children, Michael Forney and wife Amber of Greenfield, OK, Ja’nette Lokey and husband Aaron of Chickasha, OK and Kyla Jacobs of El Reno, OK, 7 grandchildren, Rayna Adair and husband Bryan, Kaston Lokey and wife Taylor, Lexi Pendleton, Journey Forney, Mikey Forney, Jr., Xander Jacobs and Xaiden Jacobs, 4 great grandchildren, Blakelyn Adair, Rylan Adair, Annsley Lokey and Garrett Lokey, 2 siblings, Jack Forney and wife Sheila of Fay, OK and Beverly Yost and husband Den of Kingfisher, OK as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garl and Joan Forney, brother, Scott Forney, and grandparents, Fred and Ella Mae Forney and Jack and Regina Weygandt.
