Kay A. Hoar Obituary

Kay A. Hoar was born March 16, 1938 in Enid, OK, to Ord and Dovie (Hildebrand) Hoar.  He graduated from Greenfield High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He married Nova Lee McLaughlin.  The couple moved to numerous Naval Stations during Kay’s service time before moving back to the Greenfield area to begin Kay’s farming career.  He served on the Greenfield School Board, refereed basketball games, managed the Co-op in Greenfield, managed a feed yard in Enid, and also drove a school bus for a number of years.  He was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt pheasant.  Kay was a member of the Greenfield Baptist Church.  


Kay is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nova Lee Hoar, 3 children, Sherri Hays and husband Drew of Weatherford, OK, Scott Hoar of Greenfield, OK and Tracey Nunez of Owasso, OK, 


7 grandchildren, Jenna Lee Adams and husband, Jimmy, Ty Hays and wife Lacey, Clayton Hoar and wife Charee, Coriann Hoar, Zane Hanrahan and wife Dabney, Kaylee Nunez, and Erik Nunez and fiancé Madison Smith, 4 great-grandchildren, Kade Hays, Bridger and Ridley Hoar and Remington Nunez, one brother, Buel Hoar and wife Janet of Piedmont, OK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. 

 

Kay was preceded in death by his parents, Ord and Dovie Hoar, one son, Douglas Hoar, and 5 sisters, Eva, Harriett, Laura, Irene, and Evelyn.

Geary Turner Funeral Home will be open on Sunday 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Monday 9:00 AM- 9:00 PM for friends to sign Kay’s book and pay their respects.


Services: Greenfield Baptist Church, Tuesday, 9:00 AM, August 6, 2024, Greenfield, OK


Officiating:  Chuck Niemyer


Burial:  Watonga IOOF Cemetery, Watonga, OK


Services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Geary, OK.
