Kathy Jo Compton was born April 1, 1966, to Omer Lee and Wanda Jo (Ratledge) Compton in Watonga, Oklahoma. She passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at her home in Watonga at the age of 59. Kathy graduated from Watonga High School in 1984 and went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford for three years. She lived most of her life in the Watonga area, where she worked in a variety of roles. Kathy worked alongside her mother as a cook and waitress at the Eagles Nest, and she was also employed at the Watonga Cheese Factory, Midway Convenience Store, the Blaine County Courthouse, and later as a cook at the Watonga Nursing Home. She was known for her love of cats and had a deep fondness for collecting figurines and trinkets. Her beloved cat of 18 years passed away just a month before Kathy’s own passing.
Survivors include her brother, Paul Compton and his wife, Jo Anne of Watonga; nephew, Ryan Compton and his wife, Hailey of Watonga; great-niece, Aria Compton of Thomas, Oklahoma; and great-nephew, Elli Wagner of Watonga.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Wanda Jo Compton.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at East Mount Pleasant Cemetery in East of Watonga, Oklahoma, with Pastor Adam Lovitt officiating.
