Kathleen Frances (Kappus) Leck was born on February 1, 1935, to Lawrence Kappus and Mildred (DeFrance) Meyer. She passed away on August 23, 2021, in El Reno, OK at the age of 86. Kathleen graduated from Hinton High School in 1952. She worked in El Reno as a telephone operator. She married Robert Leck on February 7, 1953, in El Reno, OK. They lived on the farm their whole life and ran a dairy. Kathleen later attended El Reno Jr. College. She worked at Boles Chevrolet, Wheeler Chevrolet, OKC Stockyards, and in accounts payable at Geary Public Schools. Kathleen enjoyed square dancing, quilting, singing in the church choir, growing flowers, baking pies, OU Sooners and OKC Thunder, and being involved with organizing the Hinton Alumni Banquet. She loved spending time with her family and was very family oriented. Kathleen made lots of her girls’ dresses and many square dancing dresses. She was a member of the Hi-Steppers Square Dance Club in Weatherford and member of the Blaine County Retired School Teachers Association. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Geary, OK. She will be so very greatly missed.
Survivors include: 4 daughters, Susan King of Kennesaw, GA, Barbara Birkholz and husband Jack of Amarillo, TX, Lois Wyrick and husband George of Edmond, OK and Carol Sparby and husband Tracy of Knoxville, TN, 6 grandchildren, Eric Cowan and wife Karmen of Geary, OK, Adam Cowan and wife Sherry of Watonga, OK, Cristy Ainsworth and husband Brian of Amarillo, TX, Phillip Wyrick and wife Marissa of Houston, TX, Jordan Smith and husband Eric of Maywood IL, and Madison Denney of Atlanta, GA, and 13 great-grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mildred Kappus, husband, Robert Leck, 1 brother and an infant brother.
