On January 29th, 2024 Johnny Recker left us for his heavenly home just short of his 75th Birthday. Johnny was born to Wayne and Claytie Recker on February 5, 1949 in Carnegie during a snow storm. He farmed the farm he grew up on all his life. As a young man he enlisted in the Army National Guard. He also was a EMT and was a firefighter for the Alfalfa Fire Department for many years and retired from there. He married Lanell on the farm and they raised their children there. He was a man of many talents and built his own home. He often helped anyone in the community that needed it. Johnny opened his home to many over the years and was able to help most of them finish school. He loved fishing and driving his boat. If any of his boys were out of line he would come to his daughter in laws rescue. If any of his boys tore up equipment he’d teach them a lesson from it. If the girls tore something up he’d fix it and move on or make the boys fix it. His grandkids were his pride and joy until the great grand kids came and took their place. His family was the most important thing to him.
Johnny is survived by his brother Donnie Recker and wife Margaret, his son Jonathan Recker and wife Alisha of Sickles, James Skaggs and wife Jeannie of Fort Cobb, Cassandra Short and husband Justin of Garver. His bonus children Amanda “Mandy” Skaggs, Mark Bell, and Delta Garrett, his grandchildren Brittany, Bradley, and Dustee Recker, Karlee Duke and husband Bobby, Delong Eyster and husband David, James Kionute Skaggs, Jessenia and Harley
Skaggs, Valoncia, Zianne, and Kason Skaggs, Jadezia Marquette, Haley Weller and husband Andrew, Courtney Griffith, Ryan and Kaden Lee, and Haley Lawerence. Great grandchildren Braxton and Karter Duke, Adelya Eyster, Andrea, Jennifer, and Maddie Weller, and Cambree Griffith. Many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents William “Wayne” and Claytie Recker, his wife Lanell Recker, son in law Rodney Marquette, and grandson Dakota.
