Johnnie Ford Obituary

Johnnie Fay (Thomas) Ford was born May 26, 1956, to John and Glendola (Marshall) Thomas in Watonga, OK. She passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 64. Johnnie was raised by Vernon and Glendola Spencer. She graduated from Watonga High School in 1974. While in school, she worked as a dishwasher and became a waitress in a quick pinch for help at R.B.’s Steakhouse, where waitressing became her main job for years.  During her high school years, she met the love of her life and future husband.  She was united in marriage to Rex Allen Ford on May 12, 1974, in Watonga. Together Rex and Johnnie had 3 daughters, and they were/are their pride and joy.  They lived in Watonga during the early years of their life together, then eventually moved to the Fay area in the late 1980s, where they raised their family in the home Rex built. She worked at RB’s Steak House, End O’ Main, Loves Country Stores, Sonic, Easy Shop, and Harvest Mart, to name a few. Johnnie landed her working career as a cashier for Domino’s Food and Fuel until sickness wouldn't allow her to return. Her work family and her customers were an important part of her life; she loved them dearly, even those that exchanged a “hard time” with her.  Johnnie enjoyed sewing clothes and Halloween costumes for her girls when they were young, saving coins to go on vacation, she was in a bowling in league for many years and she enjoyed having time on her tablet playing games and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. She would make every effort to attend her grandchildren’s events and loved being with her family even when she wasn't feeling the best. She was a dedicated member of the Oasis Church in Watonga, in which she served in the children's ministry and helped in any way she could.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Thomas, stepfather, Vernon Spencer, husband, Rex Ford, and siblings, Paulette Raines, Becky McGuire, and Rickey Thomas.

Johnnie is survived by her mother, Glendola Spencer of White City, Oregon; three daughters, Loura Lumpkin and her husband David of Fay, Rebecca (Bubbles) Mayo and her husband J.D. of Calumet, RexAnn Brack and her husband Zachary of Watonga; eight grandchildren, Hannah, Malachi, Paige, Jazmine, Joseph, Zoe, Ezekiel, and Mikah; two step-grandchildren, Kristen and Dean; sister, Sherry Nealey and her husband J.C. (Jay) of White City; an adopted sister, Janie White; three brothers-in-law, James McGuire of Watonga, Daniel Raines of Cushing, Lane Ford of Texas; two sisters-in-law, Joan Saunders of Arizona and Vivian Young of Colorado as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
