John Giesbrecht was born September 18, 1943, in Mexico to Abraham and Elizabeth (Wall) Giesbrecht. He passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021, at the Corn Heritage Village Nursing Home in Corn, OK at the age of 78. John graduated from school in Mexico. He worked as a water well driller with the machine he made himself. He married Elizabeth Dyck August 4, 1966, in Mexico. They moved to Wolford, TX in 1975 where he farmed. They later moved to Canada where he managed an orchard and moved to Oklahoma in 1981. He worked for Ronnie Wright, as a tractor mechanic for Charlie Wheeler, for Bob Ramming in the watermelons, and worked as a bus mechanic for Hinton Public Schools. John enjoyed reading his Bible, working on his antique tractors, and feeding cattle. He was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in Hydro, OK. He and Elizabeth had most recently been working at the First Baptist Church in Hinton, OK.
Survivors Include: his wife, Elizabeth Giesbrecht of the home, Hinton, OK; his children, Abraham Giesbrecht of Hinton, OK, Mary Ellison and husband Jonny of Calumet, OK, Elisa “Betty” Gwartney and husband Bobby of Hammon, OK, David Giesbrecht and wife Kim of Lookeba, OK, Johnny Giesbrecht and wife Lindsay of Hinton, OK, Benny Giesbrecht, and Franky Giesbrecht both of Hinton, OK; his grandchildren, MollyAnn and Lizzie Giesbrecht, Luke Ellison and wife Claire, Regan Born and husband Holden, David, Layne, and Rachel Gwartney, Samuel and Matthew Giesbrecht, Dillon Giesbrecht, and Landy Giesbrecht; his great grandson, Bowen, his siblings, Elizabeth, Ann, Abraham, Sara, Mary, Helen, and Maggie, as well as many other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Elizabeth Giesbrecht, an infant sister, and two sisters, Tina and Susan.
