Joe Ed Tate was born on March 22, 1937 in Borger, Texas to Herman and Francis Tate. Joe passed away on October 10, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 86. Joe was raised in Binger, OK and after High School he joined the US Air Force in 1960. He married the love of his life, Leta Ray Colvin on April 9, 1960 in Ft Walton Beach, FL. They raised their beautiful girls, Tammy and Cheryl, in South Oklahoma City. In 1979, they moved to Jones, Oklahoma. Joe worked at Chromalloy, eventually retiring. Joe loved to tinker, make things, and began buying houses to fix up, this became his passion. Joe and Leta had a little cabin at Lake Murray where they spent many happy hours. He loved that cabin and his boat. He and Leta then moved to Ski Island where they enjoyed looking at the lake and entertaining their grandchildren. Leta passed away in 2001. In Joe’s later life, he married El Dea Tate. El Dea preceded him in death in 2019. Joe lived a wonderful and full life. He loved hard and was loved greatly by all who survive him but now Joe is walking the streets of gold.
Joe is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Guy Hardaker, his grandchildren, Jared and Britni Lauzon, Joe and Amber Lauzon, Chance and Daenesa Hardaker, Tate and Jake Passero, Raychel and Yazan Albakheet, and Jaymie Rogers, and his great grandchildren, Cy, Ashlyn, Jace, Jocelyn, Hudson, and Tessa, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Francis Tate, his wife, Leta Tate, his wife, EL Dea Tate, his brother, Donald Buck Tate, and his beautiful daughter, Cheryl Tate Rogers.
