Jo Ellen (Jones) Clyburn

    Jo Ellen Clyburn was born July 25, 1942 in Geary, Oklahoma to Luther James and Cecil Violet (Mize) Jones.  She passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 at her home in Geary, Oklahoma at the age of 78.  Jo attended Geary Public Schools.  She married Claudie Lee Clyburn on May 1, 1958 in Watonga, Oklahoma. They celebrated their 61st anniversary before his passing in 2019.  The couple made their home in Oklahoma City for some years where she attended business school.  After graduation Jo worked in the accounting department for Rothchild’s Department Store.  Jo and Claudie moved back to Geary and settled there.  Jo worked in the home while her 3 children were small.  She rejoined the workforce at Pioneer Telephone Company where she worked for 28 years until her retirement.  She owned and operated Video Visions, a video store in Geary that also offered tanning and exercise tables.  She employed her children and 7 of her grandchildren.  Jo loved to go to dances, was a pool shark, loved playing her luck at casinos, eating out, crocheting, and crafting. 

Survivors include:  3 children, Jill Sorrels of Geary, OK, Randy Wayne Clyburn and wife Debra of Geary, OK, and Vickie Hardee and husband Travis of Calumet, OK, grandchildren, Jeremy Knight and wife Lacey, Glen Knight and wife Natalie, Will Knight and wife Shelly, Cody Lee Sorrels, Courtney Hartico and Olen Ferguson, Brandy Clyburn, Josh Clyburn and wife Gloria, Christafer Clyburn, Daniel Columbus and wife Melissa, Lisa Hulsey and husband Dylan, Travis Lawson, Ryder Thompson, and McKaylie Hardee, great-grandchildren, Tricia, Chandler, Danin, Ryland, Rylan, Cash, Brayden, Dreyan, Parker, Dawson, Raidyne, John II, Alex, Ashley, Jack, Julynne, Leah, Aubrey, Brook, Lexie and one on the way, great great grandson, Henry, and sister, Shirley Meyers of El Reno, OK as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Cecil Jones, husband Claudie Clyburn, son-in-law, Steve Sorrels, grandson, Alex Ray, brother Johnnie Mize Jones, and brother-n-law, Jack Meyers.
