Jimmie L Martin was born October 11, 1939 and raised on a farm near Hinton, Oklahoma. He attended Mountain View community school through 8th grade and then transferred to East
Walnut community school. After graduating, he attended one year at what was known as Central State University at the time. He married Brenda Martin, also from the Hinton area, on October 11, 1958. They moved to OKC where Jimmie worked in the warehouse and as a truck driver for Collins-Dietz-Morris and then from 1961 to his retirement he worked as a truck driver for Fleming Foods. They moved to Yukon when Debbie, their oldest child, was starting school.
Jimmie gave his life to Christ in his early twenties when he and Brenda began attending church in Yukon. They are members of Discovery Church and were active in Ambassadors, a senior adult group.
He enjoyed learning new things; as an adult he went to Vo-Tech to learn upholstery, electronics, and refrigeration. He also enjoyed woodworking, leather work, photography and any project Brenda dreamed up for him to do. Jimmie enjoyed fellowship with his family, and friends including his church family.
Jimmie went to meet Jesus Monday, August 30th, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lin Martin and Eva Young Martin, his wife, Brenda McBee Martin and his daughter, Debbie Strawn. He is survived by two siblings, Betty Nix of Norman and Karen Parker of Binger; his son Charles Martin of Yukon; grandchildren Matthew Strawn of Richland and Erika Martin Breedlove of OKC; great-grandchildren Isis and Xayden Strawn of Richland and Crue, Hayes, Callahan and Holland Breedlove of OKC.
